Yaz / Yasmin / Ocella

Legal Options

The FDA found that contraceptive drugs don’t carry strong enough warning about risks

With recent FDA reports that the popular birth control drug Yaz (also known as Yasmin and Ocella) may have serious health risks.  Thousands of women who suffered side effects have contacted an attorney to learn their options for a Yaz lawsuit.

Experts are urging those who suffered an injury after taking Yaz that they do have legal rights, and they may be entitled to a substantial settlement if they take action before it’s too late.

Studies published in Europe and the United States have shown that the active hormone ingredient in Yaz may cause an increased risk of blood clots. These, in turn, can lead to serious or fatal conditions like stroke, DVT and pulmonary embolism.

Court records now show that more than 6,000 women have filed a Yaz lawsuit against the drug maker, Bayer, alleging they suffered these conditions after taking Yaz. Although the company has denied any wrongdoing, legal experts predict they will be held liable for damages from the defective drug.

In fact, the latest reports from Bayer indicate they have started settling the side effect lawsuits filed by some attorneys. However, not everyone will receive compensation for their claim.

If you suffered a stroke, blood clot, DVT or pulmonary embolism after taking Yaz, it’s important to learn your rights to a substantial settlement from a Yaz lawsuit.

Soon after the release of Yaz and Yasmin, the FDA received hundreds of reports of women suffering injury or death after taking the drugs. Now, a series of major studies identifying the serious health risks associated with Yaz have given those affected the evidence to file claims for their damages.

Thousands of lawsuits filed around the country in recent years have been consolidated into a federal Mult-District Litigation court in Illinois. With evidence mounting that Bayer may have sold Yaz while knowing the risks, a judge has urged the company to consider settlement.

Those who’ve been injured after taking the drug still have time to file a Yaz lawsuit and seek recovery for their damages. However, every case has an expiration period on how long you have to take action.  It is important to speak with an attorney to learn if your case qualifies.

Attorneys have already helped those women and families injured by Yaz side effects file a claim and recover settlements. These same attorneys are available to discuss your case today.

Lawsuits for injuries caused by defective drugs can be complex legal matters. Make sure the attorney you trust with your case is qualified for this type of lawsuit and has experience fighting large drug companies. This could mean the difference between a quick, fair settlement and years of waiting for a case that doesn’t develop.
